Conor McGregor arrested and charged with assault
Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor has been arrested in New York City. He is being charged with assault of UFC fighters while attacking a bus carrying them after a media day in the city. The alleged incident happened Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Two athletes got injured when McGregor and other martial arts fighters such as Cian Cowley threw something through the window of the bus including a two-wheeled dolly. McGregor and his entourage got access to the arena and headed down to the loading dock where they attacked the bus. The two hurt athletes were unable to compete in Saturday night’s UFC 223. Lightweight fighter Michael Chiesa suffered head injuries and is not allowed to fight. Flyweight Ray Borg is also not cleared to fight after suffering corneal abrasions.
“The organization deems today’s disruption completely unacceptable and is currently working on the consequences that will follow,” UFC said in a statement.
McGregor is set to appear in court Friday. But this move might have ended his career for good.
